The Eye of the Storm: How news media cover mass killings
In the summer of 2010 two major shootings occurred in northern England within just a few weeks of one another. The shootings were carried out by lone gunmen and took place in small rural communities totally unused to carnage like this and the intense scrutiny from the news media that came with it. I visited these areas a few months later and spoke to locals about what it had felt like to be in the eye of this storm.
The film was premiered at the National Union of Journalists’ conference in Spring 2011.
